My husband is officially old

So, We are old, He just turned 40. I cant believe it, i remember when my dad was 40 and I was 16. Crazy. Well, I pulled off his surprise party. Thank god he is so naive. Jarred faked him out really good and told him he was sick and we needed to go home. I had tons of old pictures out to embarrass him really good. Tons of beer and drinks/food. I wish I had more room here for as many as I wanted to invite.
Our entertainment was Angie's friend whom passed out. We decorated his face, stacked chairs and a card table on him, he slept through the whole thing. yes, he really was passed out.

what a week...

Last week was a very sad week for me, big time to reflect on things.

The first thing. My old friend,Gina, since like 13 yrs old, her cousin,Chris, passed away of cancer. He was only 50 yrs old. Gina used to live with Chris and his wife Connie when we were teenagers. I also lived with Chris and Connie as I was there all the time anyways. We had so much fun and lots of great memories with them. Chris was a great guy and even though I didn't see him throughout the years, he will be missed. I worry about Connie, his wife, who has MS. She was really struggling. It felt so good to see Gina and her sister and think of all the memories we all have together. Some good, mostly what the hell were we thinking moments, but it was nice and we need to get together more. I was watching the news after Gina told me and see his memorial as he was building supervisor for channel 5. It was awesome everything they did. He touched many lives.

On my way home from the viewing, after bawling, I come home. One of my best friends/neighbor, Tara, moved. I totally was in denial about it. I drive by her house and no lights, no big SUVs, no boat, no apparatus mowing the lawn, darkness. I sit in my driveway and continue my bawlfest and whimper and heave and just bawl. I have only driven by their house once since they've moved since. they just moved 10 minutes away but it's not the same. We have been here for 4 years together and it is just comforting to me to know that we were in the same place. Their son Dillon, was also Jarred best buddy and we are grieving together. almost a year ago, Our buddy, Debra moved to Austin.
So, Life goes on, we will get through this...each day is a new day, and I am really tired............. i probably didnt make sense...
Tara, we will miss you.....

New finds this week

1. The INDO Board
My famous fellow blogger Christa, likes to bring their InDO board over when we have been drinking to watch us fall on our asses. She can do cool twists and turns on it, we fall. She is sober too which makes great entertainment for her. What is an Indo board?
Like an indoor surfboard, you balance a board. The website says "Using the Indo Board for fun or as a serious workout helps the rider develop balance, coordination, and increased leg strength, while enhancing all important core fitness. Indo Boards improve motor skills, making the Indo Board a great cross training tool for a variety of sports, from extreme board sports to all mainstream sports that require agility and innate balance coordination." Well, I did ask her to bring it when I had about 25 people over as our games were fizzling out. Everyone did it and loved it. I think it will appear on everyones Christmas List. . we have not returned the INDO board. We have had it since Sunday. Every time I go to return it, we start seeing if we can stay on it longer. It is indeed addicting. Christa, you will get it back, it's hard to part with, I'm sorry. See Pics of the indo board.
By the way, my cousin Jeremy, is going to try to make a homemade INDO board. Interesting.

2.FURBY
I bought 3 Furbys this weekend for .50, The lady was begging me to take them. I never had one, they were quite ugly to me. I looked up the Furby dictionary and figured out
how they work, You have to feed them and pet them and talk to them. 3 more kids. Alli's furby said "I don't like you" and it has a cold. We nursed it back to health by feeding and playing with it. the dance when you put them together. Randy actually busted me talking to them alone. they are the most annoying things ever but for some odd reason I am hunting down the lady that I bought them from to buy her last one. he looked sad when we left him alone.

Hmm, I am getting addicted to blogging....... I am going to have new finds of the week.... I am starting to think of several things to blog.

State Fair Adventure

Well, Here's how my State Fair Adventure started. The kids came home with their free tickets from school, of course ,begging and pleading to go to the fair. Their "sweet" teachers had told them all of the fun things to do and see. Of course, when it comes to the fair, I only think
  • money ,money money
  • sweaty stinky crowds
  • scary oak cliff people trying to get you to park your car in their driveway for $20
So, I tried to say, no, but then I started to have mom guilt. here's what I was thinking with mom guilt

  • The whole school district is out of school just for the fair
  • we have free tickets
  • I had a blast when i was little
  • it's a Texas tradition and part of our culture here in Dallas
  • they just need to experience it
  • I won't spend that much, we will pack snacks and drinks
So, I asked if my friends if they were taking their kids, I heard alot of "HELL NO" "HA!!! HA!!" Are you crazy?"
Here was how my day went-

  • Packed a lunch and drinks, we were ready and leaving by 9:45
  • Picked up Nina's boyfriend at 10:10
  • hit the freeway for the fair in Dallas with 3 kids,2 lovebirds and 2 Furby's (yes, Furbys that talk to themselves)
  • Make it to Dallas about 11:00, sit on the freeway for 1hr and 30 min, start eating lunch in the car
  • Try to find parking- at least 30 min, there was a car smoking next to us, yes, smoking
  • pay $10 to park in the hood (it was certified parking)
  • Walk to the nearest shuttle about 15 min, wait in shuttle line 20 min
  • It's now about 1:30 and we are finally in the fair
  • we walked to find the Jonas brothers concert halfway around the fair
Now, The Jonas brothers are on the Disney channel but I didn't think that popular. i was looking for a small stage . jarred was very excited as he didn't think they were the real Jonas brothers. So, We walk upon a crowd of 20,000 screaming girls 10 min before the concert. They were telling them if you don't feel safe, go to the back. There were police on horseback walking from the crowd, hosing them down with water hoses, helicopters swirling, girls being passed over the stage, passing out from heat exhaustion right next to us and we were in the back. Jarred says "Mom, I don't feel safe" i also had my tiny 5 yr old baby girls with me during this, we got the heeeeeeeeelll out. We went to the hall of state museum and we sat down in this beautiful place with a/c and they had their picnic there on the floor (NO FOOD OR BEVERAGES SIGNS ALL AROUND) I have to tell you, this was scary for me. it was crazy, I could only think of the people being stuck at the super dome in New Orleans with their babies. I had a place to take them to retreat to a/c, I had a backpack of food and water. Those people had nothing. Anyways, the scary feeling I had with my kids was only for a little bit, I just thought of Katrina and felt lucky I had those things. So, I learned to stay in the buildings and out of the crowds. Apparently, the crowds yesterday was the same as the Texas/OU day. After the heat of the day subsided, we started to have fun, ride a couple of rides, eat a Fletchers corny dog, see Big Tex, funnel cake. we even got rained on which was refreshing. Seeing my kids on the rides was the best part for me. They weren't fighting, they were happy and their smiles were priceless. We made it home at 10:00 exhausted and sore but it was worth it in the end. My camera died after 3 pictures so here they are. The 2 top ones are the Jonas Brothers concert.

Just like me

I can tell you my son, jarred, is just like his Dad. He will tell you exactly how he feels about something. My girls, I have been told, are my personality split in half. Paige, is the shy, sweet side of me. She will give you her last bite of cookie. When she is tired, she is like an angry bear. Alli,oh were do i begin, she is like the deviant smart ass side with a hint of sweet. I will post many of the funny things Alli says on here, I'm sure of it. She is a 25 yr old trapped in a 5 yr old body. tonight, while getting Mcdonalds ,which we do MAYBE once a month, She says "I thought I ordered this with ranch and ketchup" This should be a real treat to her as her mother is el cheapo. Everyday, i will have a new Alli discussion. As, I type, she is asking me to draw Africa. Yes, Africa. I'm sure this might be boring to you reading this, but you are saving my family from hearing stories of my kids :)

Just like christa

well, Christa has a blog and so I had to follow and get one too. We also have similar hair cuts. I also, like Christa will post the odd and funny things that happen to my family, which is often. We live on the same street too. We live in the same model house almost the same color. We both painted our hallway. We both have sons with brown hair and like to play with Littlest Pet shop. We both like to play dress up. We both work at the same place. have you ever seen Single White female? Well, in my quest to be like Christa, i will fail. she runs like 3 miles a day (not happening here), she has pretty skin (me, 33 yrs old and still have acne), Christa doesn't like gossip, (I admit, it entertains me), Christa, a OCD clean freak (me=messy,ADD). well, here is my first blog. yesterday, i got a wild hair and colored my blonde hair for the first time ever brown. lets see if it stays. well, this is actually fun, will anyone actually read it?
